Kenneth Elmassian, D.O. Elected President-Elect of Michigan State Medical Society

            Kenneth Elmassian, D.O. of East Lansing was elected President-elect of the Michigan State Medical Society at its 147th Annual Meeting on April 28th. He is the first anesthesiologist to be elected to the position. Dr. Elmassian serves on the MSMS Board of Directors Finance Committee and the Committee on Federal Legislation. Dr. Elmassian is also the Michigan Director to the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Immediate Past President of the Michigan Society of Anesthesiologists. 

Ralph Lydic, M.D. to Receive the 2012 ASA Excellence in Research Award

            Ralph Lydic, M.D., the Bert La Du professor of anesthesiology and co-director of the University of Michigan’s Center for Sleep Science, will be honored with the 2012 ASA Excellence in Research Award. This is the highest award given by the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Dr. Lydic was selected for his research related to anesthesiology, sleep and breathing.

Jill Mhyre, M.D. appointed Senior Editor for the Joint Council on Anesthesiology Examinations

Jill Mhyre, M.D. has been appointed to the position of senior editor for the Joint Council on Anesthesiology Examinations. Dr. Mhyre is an assistant professor of anesthesiology at the University of Michigan in the Department of Anesthesiology and specializes in obstetric anesthesiology.

Rosalie Tocco-Bradley, M.D., Ph.D. Appointed to Board of Medicine

            Rosalie Tocco-Bradley, M.D., Ph.D., a Past-President of the Michigan Society of Anesthesiologists, was appointed in January by Governor Snyder to the Michigan Board of Medicine. She serves as Chief of Staff and Chair of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine for the St. Joseph Mercy Health System, and also as a clinical instructor for the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan. Dr. Tocco-Bradley will represent physicians and joins another MSA Past-President, David Dull, M.D., on the Board.
