ASPIRE Announcement

Dear MSA Members:

The Anesthesiology Performance Improvement and Reporting Exchange (ASPIRE) is pleased to announce we are recruiting new sites for 2018.

In 2014, ASPIRE, a Collaborative Quality Initiative (CQI) focused on Anesthesiology, was founded in partnership with BCBSM.   The coordinating center for ASPIRE is based out of the University of Michigan and is led by MSA members Drs. Sachin Kheterpal and Nirav Shah.  ASPIRE uses electronic health record (EHR) and administrative data to study unexplained variation in practice and determine best practices for anesthesiology providers.

This is an exciting opportunity for Michigan hospitals with an EHR to become a member of ASPIRE.  Built on the experience and infrastructure of the Multicenter Perioperative Outcomes Group (MPOG), the program enables motivated physicians and hospitals to identify local / regional best practices and measure process adherence and patient outcomes.  ASPIRE provides access to an anesthesia-focused global collaborative with a membership of 40 hospitals from across the US and growing. The benefits of joining ASPIRE include:
  • Networking with anesthesiologists worldwide to support continuous quality improvement and the development of best practices
  • Leveraging multicenter data registries
  • Tracking performance and providing incentives
  • Focusing on reduction of errors, prevention of complications, and improvement of patient outcomes
